Holiday Teaching Schedule
December 2025 Newsletter
During this holiday period, some of my classes are canceled, but I’m continuing to teach Sunday and Tuesday classes through New Year’s. Here’s what my schedule looks like for this holiday week:
Sunday, Dec. 28—Fat Yoga in Williston and online at 10:30am; Restorative Yoga in Middlebury at 5:30pm
Tuesday, Dec. 30—Chair and Mat Flow online at 12pm
Wednesday, Dec. 31—No Yin
Thursday, Jan. 1—No Chair/Mat Flow (online); No Fat Yoga at Otter Creek Yoga
Special New Year’s Day Class
Instead of Fat Yoga on New Year’s Day, I’ll be teaching a very special 90 minute Yin and Yoga Nidra class at 5:30pm at Otter Creek Yoga in Middlebury. The price is the same as normal, $20 or use your class card. This will be a sweet way to start the new year. We’ll do 45 minutes of Yin and then 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra in a restorative savasana. Please let me know if you have any questions. If you’ve never taken a yin class before, this would be a great opportunity to try it out. If you are unfamiliar with yoga nidra, I wrote in depth about it in a previous substack post. No need to pre-register—just show up.
Finding Joy in December
Inkvent Calendar. For the past three years, I have opened an advent calendar full of small bottles of fountain pen ink in December. The ink has different properties: scented, shimmer, sheen, chameleon, pigment, and standard. This year I made little videos showing my morning routine along with the opening and swatching of the ink. I got quite a bit of practice producing reels for twenty-five days! Yesterday, I played with painting using all the inks—it was fun to see how their sheening and shimmering characteristics showed up.
I splurged on a month of AppleTV to watch the first season of Pluribus, a new show by the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. It was so good that I even listened to podcasts dissecting each episode! If you haven’t ever subscribed to AppleTV, you can get a 7 day free trial and binge it.
Going to Stewart’s in Middlebury! I can’t believe it’s finally open. The staff always seem perpetually harried, but I do enjoy being able to get a milkshake and eggnog there. I even got a handpacked pint of special eggnog ice cream—really good!
Your Body Is Fine
A reminder as we head into dieting season: your body is fine. Remember that body size is not an indicator of health. Cleanses, detoxes, and fasting are diet culture in disguise. Although there are certainly ways that we can feel better in our bodies through physical activity, eating a variety of nutrient-based foods and rest, it is important to remember that our behaviors are only a small part of the factors that effect our health outcomes. In a culture that demonizes certain foods, especially at this time of year, remember that no foods are bad and restriction will most likely lead to disordered eating. Body liberation is the goal—our individual bodies do not need to change, society as a whole needs to change to end size discrimination.
